LGR Programme Director
Thank you for your interest in the Staffordshire LGR Programme Director post.
This is a rare and exciting leadership opportunity at a pivotal moment for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. As the Government’s plans for local government reorganisation move forward, we are seeking an exceptional Programme Director to lead the creation of two new unitary councils that will shape public services and communities for generations to come.
Working on behalf of ten councils and reporting to the Senior Responsible Officer, you will be at the heart of one of the most significant local government transformation programmes in England. You will provide strategic leadership across every aspect of programme delivery, from governance and organisation design to workforce transition, stakeholder engagement and service continuity, ensuring a successful transition to vesting day in April 2028.
This is a highly visible role that demands outstanding leadership, sound judgement and the ability to build trust and consensus across a complex and politically sensitive environment. You will work closely with elected Members, Chief Executives, Government departments and a wide range of partners to turn a shared vision into reality.
Whether your background is in local government reorganisation or leading large-scale transformation in another complex setting, we want to hear from leaders who can inspire confidence, navigate complexity and deliver lasting change.
If you are motivated by purpose, challenge and impact, this is an opportunity to leave a legacy that will benefit local communities for decades to come.
